Our vision for sustainable, circular, organic aquaculture

Designed as a circular aquaculture system, where water, nutrients, and biological outputs are continuously managed to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.

By integrating aquaculture production with bioresource recovery, the system enables the generation of multiple valuable outputs from a single resource stream- circularity.

This supports the development of sustainable protein systems that operate efficiently without undue environmental pressure.

❋Circular Aquaculture

Vertical Lake operates as a circular aquaculture system rather than a linear production model.

Water is continuously circulated, biological outputs are retained, and waste streams are converted into useful inputs. This approach reduces resource intensity while enabling multiple value streams from one production system.

❋ Bioresource Recovery

Aquaculture outputs are captured and repurposed within the system rather than discarded.

These are converted into:

  • plant nutrition products

  • agricultural inputs

  • biomaterial feedstocks

This ensures biological resources are fully utilised across the system. Zero waste.

❋ Water Stewardship

Water is reused throughout the system through gravity-driven circulation and engineered bio-filtration.

This enables:

  • high water re-use

  • reduced reliance on external sources

  • controlled system discharge

The result is efficient aquaculture suited to water-constrained environments.

Waste-to-Fertilizer

Aquaculture outputs are converted into Blue Harvest™, an organic plant food (bio-fertiliser) supporting regenerative and organic farming.

This system:

  • replaces waste with productive inputs

  • reduces reliance on synthetic fertilisers

  • connects aquaculture directly to agriculture

Climate & Land Resilience

Vertical Lake reduces pressure on land and natural resources through:

  • high land-use efficiency

  • renewable energy (solar)

  • efficient water and nutrient use

The system is designed for long-term resilience in resource-constrained environments.

❋ Nutrient Mining

Nutrients generated during aquaculture production are recovered and reused.

This enables:

  • nutrient capture within the system

  • reduced waste discharge

  • improved soil and crop support

Nutrient flows are retained and redirected rather than lost.

Chemical-Free Circular Production

Nutrients generated during aquaculture production are recovered and reused.

This enables:

  • nutrient capture within the system

  • reduced waste discharge

  • improved soil and crop support

Nutrient flows are retained and redirected rather than lost.
